Recommended options for accommodation include the Starling Hotel and the Swisstech Hotel for their proximity to the symposium venue.


Other options include the Hotel Ibis-Centre, Hotel Elite and others.

Please also check with the Lausanne Tourist Office for a complete list of hotels in Lausanne and surroundings.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to assist attendees with the booking of their accommodation.

By plane
  • From Geneva airport (Cointrin) to Lausanne

    The trip to Lausanne takes about 45 minutes. There are 3 departures per hour. Most connections are direct from the “Geneva airport” train station to Lausanne. The train timetable is available here.
  • From Zurich airport (Kloten) to Lausanne

    The trip to Lausanne takes about 2½ hours. There are 2 departures per hour. Some trains have a connection in Bern or Zürich Hauptbahnhof (Zürich HB). The train timetable is available here.
  • From Basel airport (EuroAirport) to Lausanne

    There is no train station at the airport. You will need to take a shuttle to the central railway station (Basel SBB), which will take about 20 minutes. The trip to Lausanne takes about 2½ hours. There are 2 departures per hour and there is a connection in Bern or Bienne/Biel. The train timetable is available here.
By train
  • From Paris to Lausanne

    4 TGV per day connect Paris-Gare de Lyon to Lausanne. The trip is direct and takes about 4 hours.

  • From Lyon to Lausanne

    The trip from Lyon-Part-Dieu to Lausanne takes about 2½ heures. There is a train every 2 hours, with a connection in Geneva.
  • From Milan to Lausanne

    From Milan central train station, the trip takes 4 hours (3 hours with the Cisalpin). There is a departure every 2 hours. Usually, there is no connection.

By car

Due to restricted parking availabilities on EPFL grounds, we recommend using a taxi/Uber or public transportation to get there. You can reach EPFL using metro line M1 from Lausanne or Renens, bus lines 701 from Morges, and 31 from Ecublens/Renens/Prilly (see below).

However, if driving is the only option, parking tickets for the white visitor places can directly be purchased at the parking meters (paid parking from 7am to 5pm).

Using public transportation

When buying a ticket at the vending machines, select EPFL as destination.

  • From Lausanne (20 to 30 minutes)

    From Lausanne, take the M2 from the CFF train station. Get off at the Flon stop and take the M1 towards Renens and get off at the EPFL stop. Then walk across the EPFL campus to the SV building. Calculate your route from Lausanne.

  • From Renens (20 minutes)

    Take the bus n°31 towards “Venoge Sud”, get off at the “Paqueret” stop (remember to press the red button in the bus before the bus stop). Then walk to the SV building.

    Another option is to take the metro m1 toward Lausanne Flon, get off at the EPFL stop. Then walk across the EPFL to the SV building. Calculate your route from Renens.

By Uber

Uber is available in Lausanne. Download the app on your phone to book or reserve a ride.

By taxi

We recommend using Lausanne taxi services.

The EPFL campus offers a variety of restaurants open to the public.

Coffee breaks, lunches and an aperitif are included in the registration fee and will be served in the SV hall.
